SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE FOR EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Port Moresby Technical College is one of the two biggest Government Agency technical colleges in Papua New Guinea. The college was established in 1947 as a Technical Training Centre. Today Port Moresby Technical College is one of the eight technical colleges in the country specializing in ten trade areas. In the 1980’s the main course program offering was the Pre-Employment Technical Training (PETT) Certificate Course. Then in the 1990’s the Technical Training Certificate (TTC) course was introduced to replace the PETT Course.

Then, there was yet another course; the National Certificate Course introduced to concurrently run with the TTC course and eventually to phase out the TTC Course.

Courses that are currently offering at Port Moresby Technical College cover all technical and engineering courses at four levels of study. These are, Basic Trade Certificate (BTC), National Certificate 1&2 (NC), Technical Trade Certificate 1&2 (TTC) and the Apprenticeship Courses (Extension Courses). So it really can start here if you are after a new job, pay rise or just need upgrading your skills. With major redevelopment projects planned for the coming years, Port Moresby Technical College plans to regain its status as a leading quality trade training college.
